Differences Between 2019 Nissan 370Z & 2019 Toyota 86
Serving Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY, and Fairfield, OH
With a sleek body style that practically screams race car, it's not surprising that car enthusiasts love the Toyota 86 and the Nissan 370Z. Both of these cars rank highly in terms of sports coupes and subcompact cars. If you want a car that lets you live out your fantasies of racing around the track while still spending less time at the pump, either model might work well for you.
The one thing to keep in mind though is that each model is best for certain types of drivers. Toyota developed a strong reputation through the 1990s as the marker of affordable cars that lasted forever. That reputation changed as customers began experiencing serious problems with their cars, which helped Nissan step up and take over a share of the market. Though both cars look nice, a direct comparison will help you decide which one is the best subcompact sports car based on important features.
Safety
One of the best safety features found on either model is the gas tank on the 370Z. Metal tanks are more resistant to leaking than other types of tanks, which reduces the risks of the car catching on fire during accidents. The 86 does not have a metal gas tank. Some of the safety features that are standard on both models include daytime running lights that let others see you, a camera that provides a clear view behind your vehicle, airbags that protect drivers and their passengers and anti-lock brakes. Nissan also gives you electronic stability and traction controls that can prevent most common accidents. Those features help when you're on wet roads and come across stopped vehicles and other hazards.
Interior
The only factor in which the 86 beats the 370Z in terms of interior space is in regards to seating because it has four seats and can accommodate two people in the back. Though the 370Z only has two front seats, it has much more space for you and a guest. You get nearly 43 inches of legroom vs. the less than 42 inches of legroom in the 86. If you're average height or slightly taller, you'll like having that extra room. Nissan also gives you leather and other luxurious accents that make the price of the 370z worth the cost.
Transmission Options
Nissan designed the base 370Z model to come with a six-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Overdrive protection keeps your engine running smoothly and helps it last longer too. If you prefer an automatic transmission, you can request a model that comes with a seven-speed transmission. This will also come with an overdrive feature. Though the 86 is also available in two transmission types, Toyota does not offer a seven-speed option. You can only choose between a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The only way you can really choose between the 370Z and the 86 is when you experience the rides for yourself. You can read as much as you want online, but nothing will beat the way you feel when you actually get out on the road. At Jeff Wyler Nissan, we can put you into the 370Z for a test drive and help you special order this model or purchase one off our lot. Come in today to see how we can help.
